The Semper Fidelis Health & Wellness Story

SFHW is a mission-focused organization focusing on Training & Education. Our Founders are highly skilled Holistic Critical Skills Practitioners working together to deliver advanced Assymetric Health & Wellness end-to-end Solutions, tailored to meet the most sensitive needs of Wounded, Ill and Injured Veterans that we serve. The journey and ideals of Semper Fidelis Health & Wellness were born and forged at the time honored US Marine Corps institutions of Parris Island, S.C. and Quantico VA. Elijah and Alvaro started on their Semper Fidelis Health & Wellness journey when they met in 1991 while serving at Camp Lejeune, N.C. in the 2d Marine Division. While attending the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York, Elijah met Co-Founder Clarissa Kussin. She is a holistic personal chef, juicer, and nutrition and health counselor who spent the past twenty years striving to raise the standard of whole food cooking in each establishment she participated in. She also brings years of business management, consulting and leadership skills to the table. All three worked in the health and wellness, food and beverage, and nutrition industries for years, together they parlayed their life experience into creating Semper Fidelis Health & Wellness's Warrior Wellness, Warrior Athlete and Warrior Nutrition programming. US Marine Captain Cj Keller joined the SFHW team as a Co-Founder and used his determination, commitment and discipline in laying the foundation for what is now SFHW Yoga for Vets. In addition he also brings tools from his career path in Ocupational Therapy to our team.

In the Marine Corps, there is a motto that describes our commitment to each other, the Corp and and our country. It is Semper Fidelis or "Semper Fi." Translated from Latin, it means "Always Faithful".

THE SEMPER FIDELIS HEALTH & WELLNESS LOGO
The lotus flower or Nelumbo Nucifera is sacred to many cultures. For thousands of years, it has symbolized enlightenment and healing. The green lotus in these cultures signifies a transfromation from within. Its five points represent the five senses.

The flower grows from the mud at the bottom of ponds and rises to the water's surface. At night, the flower closes and sinks underwater, at dawn it rises and opens again, and because of this, it is a symbol of the sun, of creation and rebirth.

It is the only flower to fruit and flower simultaneously. Its extract is still used as a remedy against illness. The flower’s essence is also used to accelerate spiritual evolution and enhance healing on every level within the system.
