Holistic Warrior Nutrition emphasizes natural foods and alternative sources of nutrition. The ultimate goal of Warrior Nutrition is to promote the experience of a maximum level of well being where all of the body's parts are functioning at peak human performance. Holistic nutrition has roots up to 5,000 years back, beginning in China and in India where the value of healthy foods were first discovered.
What is Holism (Holistic)?
Holism is the connection between the mind, body and spirit. Holism as it relates to SFHW means turning away from conventional wisdom and looking to alternative methodologies. It also means approaching the health of the body as a whole, meaning the mind, body and spirit are all connected.
There’s no one-size-fits-all diet – each person is a unique individual with highly individualized nutritional requirements. Personal differences in anatomy, metabolism, body composition and cell structure all influence your overall health and the foods that make you feel your best. Personal tastes and preferences, natural shapes and sizes, blood types, and genetic backgrounds all influence what foods work best for each individual. This approach takes all these factors into account to create a personalized way of eating. That’s why no single way of eating works for everyone.
Our coaching includes Training & Education in the following core concepts:
PRIMARY FOOD
We have a philosophy about food—it’s that everything we consider as a source of nutrition is really just a secondary source of nourishment. When primary food is balanced and satiated, your life feeds you, making what you eat secondary. The concept of Warrior Nutrition proposes that the foods you eat are secondary to all the other things that feed you—your relationships, career, spirituality, and exercise routine. Those are the things we call Primary Food
CIRCLE OF LIFE
The Circle of Life is an exercise that helps you examine a variety of areas of your life, in order to determine which primary foods you are missing the most.
The Circle of Life has 12 sections including Spirituality, Confidence, Education, Career, Finances, Health, Physical Activity, Home Cooking, Home Environment, Relationships and Social Life.
By completing the Circle of Life, you will have a clear visual of any imbalances in Warrior Nutrition Primary Food. Use this as a starting point for areas where you may wish to spend more time and energy to create balance in your life.
CROWDING OUT
Most nutrition experts give their clients a list of foods to avoid, which explains why so many people are turned off by nutrition. We teach the theory of "crowding out," as an effective way to overcome habitual consumption of unhealthy food. The principal of crowding out suggests that you add more to your diet, instead of taking away. By adding healthy, whole foods such as fruits, vegetables and grains, you will crowd out the unhealthy foods. The body can only take so much food. If you fill the body with healthy, nutrient-dense food, it is only natural that cravings for unhealthy foods will lessen substantially
NUTRIENT DENSITY FOR THE WARRIOR
Nutrient Density is a critical concept in devising and recommending dietary and nutritional advice to patients and to the public. Not merely vitamins and minerals, but adequate consumption of phytochemicals is essential for proper functioning of the immune system and to enable our body’s detoxification and cellular repair mechanisms that protect us from chronic diseases.
DECONSTRUCTING CRAVINGS
Many people believe cravings are a problem, but cravings play a critical role in understanding what the body needs.
ENERGETICS OF FOOD
All food has distinct qualities and energetic properties, depending on where, when and how it grows, as well as how it is prepared.
FOOD/MOOD CONNECTION
Scientific research and personal experience both demonstrate that what we eat affects how we think and how we act.
